ECVET is a European policy priority aimed at introducing a tool for giving credits to vocational education and training across the Member States. The tool is still at its infant stage, needing concrete practices to drawn on to flesh out its structures and cross Member State cooperation to build trust and to share experiences. In time, ECVET will provide a concept on which all the European structures involved in training have to work. However, this requires that the tool is solidly based on testing it in practice and within concrete sectors across the Member States.
The aim of the ECVET Trust partnership project is to explore the value of a European Credit Transfer system through the analysis of three qualifications within the two sectors of Business (343) and Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction (521 and 522/523). The purpose of the partnership is to analyse its feasibility in concrete qualifications.
The partnership consists of institutions which have different roles and experiences with vocational education and training. There are vocational colleges with experiences in sending young people on work placements abroad, regional institutions, a consultancy firm responsible for drawing up qualifications, and a university which has a broad research base within the field of vocational education and training. The combination of different institutions working at different levels of the vocational education and training systems in different countries will add value to partnership and to the objective of bridging theory and practice in regard to ECVET.
