Marja-Vantaa

Marja-Vantaa is the most significant new urban residential and business area to be emerged within the Helsinki Region. It will offer homes for some 30000 inhabitants and 25000 jobs in the future.
Marja-Vantaa will arise along the Ring Rail Line that connects the Helsinki city centre to the international Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
Local assets include:
- Marja-Vantaa's proximity to the airport
- Good public transportation and road connections within the Helsinki region and further
- Excellent possibilities for regional commercial services
- New, ecological housing and workplace area

Marja-Vantaa's New City Centre

The new city centre will house some 14000 new inhabitants in the future.
The new Marja-Vantaa shopping centre of 110 000 m2 (net floor area) is being planned to the south of Kivistö station. The first phase of 60 000 m2 (net floor area) will be opened in 2014.
The main aims of the Marja-Vantaa city centre are:
- Stress-free urban living
- Ecological living with good public transportation connections
- Art as part of everyday life
The first homes of the Marja-Vantaa's new city centre will be completed next to the Ring Rail Line Kivistö station in 2014.
Annual Housing Fair 2015 will be held in Marja-Vantaa. The housing fair pre-sents different house types from single-family to apartment houses, new planning and technical innovations and trends. In Marja-Vantaa the fair will focus on townhouses and ecology.
An international planning competition was held on the Marja-Vantaa city centre in 2007. After winning the competition with an entry " A Fish called Wanda", Architects Harris - Kjisik have been developing the scheme together with the Marja-Vantaa-project.

Keimolanmäki new residential area

The new Keimolanmäki residential area with commercial and public services will replace the former Keimola international motor racing track. Construction of the housing area for 2500 inhabitants in the vicinity of large outdoor recreation areas will be launched in 2012.
The old race-track tower will be renovated into a light installation. The idea competition is being held in the spring 2011 for the selected architect-artist groups for the best result. The renovation project has been proposed as World Design Capital 2012 project.
