Working for the City of Vantaa almost always requires a vocational degree. Please look through the required qualifications for the vacancies; they are often statutory. Our main working language is Finnish. However, the service sector for the Swedish-speaking population as well as work at the English School and the English Nursery form exceptions.

Contracts of Employment and Trial Periods

In order to ensure that the work is both physically and mentally suitable for the applicant, the applicant needs to have a physical examination before starting work. After this, the decision to hire and the subsequent contract of employment are made.

Salaries and annual leave are subject to respective industry agreements. Working hours vary according to individual lines of work.

We regularly carry out questionnaires for newcomers as well as gather the experiences of our seasonal workers and all other staff. The cooperation is active, open and works towards developing our communities.

At the City of Vantaa, each employee is entitled to have a performance appraisal and career-development discussion with their supervisor at least once a year.
