The city of Vantaa Street Maintenance's responsibilities are, for instance, the maintenance and sanitation of streets. There are approximately 1500 kilometers of roads, streets, and pavements in the city.

The street areas are maintained with tax revenues. The maintenance work done by the city includes snow ploughing, de-icing, removing of snow ridges and driving snow to snow disposal sites. Property owners only need to plough the intersections connecting the public road with the property.

The roads are divided into maintenance classes, and the winter maintenance is done according to the classification. Main roads and streets serving the public transport are usually classified as classes 1-2, residential streets as class 3. In the summer, the road maintenance consists of cleaning, asphalt and paving repairs, and installation of traffic signs and curbs.
