The basic education in architecture emphasizes the understanding and interpretation of built environment in the modern society. The aim of the teaching is to create personal relationship to the environment. The teaching introduces basic elements of architecture such as space, light, color, shape, material, and structure.
Arkki is a school of architecture for children and youth in the metropolitan area. The teaching follows the advanced syllabus in basic education in the arts. The students are 4–19 years of age, and the studies can be started at any age. Students are enrolled in the order of application. Arkki also arranges summer courses, workshops for schools and birthdays, as well as education for teachers and day care personnel.
