Urgent dental care centralized in Tikkurila

Urgent dental care will be centralized in Tikkurila health center's dental clinic as of August 13, 2018. The dental clinic is open from Monday to Friday: 8:00 -14:00.

Centralizing urgent dental care aims to enhance the quality and patient safety, as well as to make service access and care faster. In addition, Oral Health Care units around Vantaa will continue to provide urgent dental care. The majority of operations are centralized in Tikkurila because of its central location and good transport connections.

Cooperation between different professionals makes it possible to accomplish the maximum amount of care during one visit to the dental clinic. The new centralized model will make it faster for all customers to access non-urgent care, since fewer follow-up appointments will be needed.

The unit consists of a dental hygienist-dentist team and an on-duty dental nurse who will receive customers of urgent dental care and, when required, make preparations for their care. The dental hygienist offers oral medical examinations for adults and dental-hygiene services such as tartar removal. During one visit, the customer can also get dentist's services.

Thanks to the extension of the dental clinic, there are six new rooms for caring customers. The reception has altogether nine rooms, of which six are meant for urgent care and three for semi-urgent care.
Urgent dental care treats adult patients that need urgent or semi-urgent care. To make an appointment, call the Oral Health Care appointment service, tel. 09 8393 5300 (Mon-Fri: 7:30 -14:00). The appointment service will give you an approximate time when the care will be started, regardless of the number of urgent-care customers at the reception. The length of the reception varies according to the customers’ individual needs.

We will develop our operations based on experiences and feedback gained. You can give feedback on our operations directly to the employees or on a customer-feedback form at the dental clinic or online through the City of Vantaa's feedback service.

Evening and weekend Oral Health Care will be arranged, as before, at the metropolitan area joint emergency service, at Haartman Hospital in Helsinki. Töölö Hospital in Helsinki is responsible for urgent cases during the night that cannot wait for the following day.
