Maternity and Child Welfare Clinics

The purpose of maternity and child welfare clinics is to monitor the mother's health during pregnancy, give ante-natal and childcare advice, and to assess, monitor and support the child's growth and development. The clinics also try to eliminate or minimise the effects of psychosocial risk factors that disturb the child's development. As a rule, a pregnant mother is designated a nurse who will look after her throughout the pregnancy and monitor the child's development until school age.

You can book a time at your local clinic on weekdays between 12 noon and 1 pm.
