Vantaa’s election campaign uses inauthentic characters, created by artificial intelligence, that aim to arouse the citizens’ attention and also stir up a little bafflement. We want to increase voting activity and pose the question: who do want to decide on matters relevant to you?
Vantaa mayor’s vacancy to open on August 1, 2023
In its meeting on February 27, the city executive board declared Vantaa mayor’s vacancy open as of the beginning of August. The meeting also ratified the letter of intent on Vantaa and Kerava's cooperation as employment authorities.
Vantaa tunes in to the upcoming election on the Vantaudu vaaleille tour and Nuorten vaaleilla (“Youth Election”)
The Vantaudu vaaleille tour raises awareness of both the parliamentary elections and topics important to the people of Vantaa. A total of 18 primary and secondary schools and two youth facilities in Vantaa signed up to be the organizers of the educational voting event Youth Elections in 2023.
Election advertising
Outdoor advertising for the presidential election in 2024 can begin a week before advance voting, on January 10th. Use of public spaces for campaigning is allowed under certain conditions.
General information on elections
Everyone who is 18 years old on the day of the election is entitled to vote, but otherwise the right to vote is determined on an election-by-election basis.
Postal voting from abroad
In the presidential election, voters living abroad can order postal voting documents from 28.10.2023 onwards. Postal voting begins on the 21st of December 2023.
Home and institutional voting
If you are unable to visit a polling station, election officials can bring voting to you.
Voting on election day
The election day for the presidential election is Sunday 28.1.2024 and the possible second election day is Sunday 11.2.2024.
Advance voting
Advance voting may be performed at any early voting place. An identity card or driver's license is required.
Elections
Finland has five elections: county elections, parliamentary election, European Parliament election, municipal election at four-year intervals, as well as presidential election.
