Vehicle removal

The City of Vantaa will remove incorrectly parked vehicles, abandoned and scrap vehicles, as well as vehicles that hinder street cleaning, to a storage facility at Hanskalliontie 6, 01760 Vantaa.

A fee for towing a vehicle to a nearby location and an administrative fee are charged to the owner or holder of the vehicle.

If a vehicle is towed to a storage, a towing fee is charged to the owner or holder of the vehicle in accordance with the price list of the service provider.

In addition to the towing fee, a weekly fee of EUR 60 (VAT 0%) will be charged for the storage of vehicles that weigh 3.5 metric tons or less and a weekly fee of EUR 120 (VAT 0%) for the storage of heavy vehicles that weigh more than 3.5 metric tons. An administrative fee of EUR 60 (VAT 0%) is also charged.

The ownership of unclaimed vehicles will be transferred to the city if

  • a vehicle in storage is not reclaimed within 60 days of the owner being informed of the removal of the vehicle
  • the owner is otherwise deemed to have waived their right to the vehicle

Vehicles impounded by the city will be sold in an auction on the Konkurssihuutokauppa.fi website.

For more information on vehicles for sale, please call 050 346 3227.

If you want to make a request for an administrative review regarding a towed vehicle, you can do so by printing, completing and submitting a request form by post or email.

Requesting a vehicle removal

With the vehicle removal request e-form, you can request parking control to remove a vehicle or impose a parking fine in a private area. Strong identification with online banking codes or Mobile ID is required to access the form. Carefully fill in all fields in the form.

All sections of the form must be completed so that the removal can be completed in accordance with the law.

If the vehicle has registration plates, you must first contact the owner or holder indicated in the register. If the owner or holder of the vehicle doesn’t remove the vehicle, you can ask the parking control unit of the City of Vantaa to remove the vehicle.

If a vehicle is parked in a reserved parking space, the holder of the reserved parking space must be contacted first, and the owner or holder of the vehicle parked in the reserved space should be given the opportunity to move the vehicle before parking control is requested to remove the vehicle.

The person requesting the removal must provide their contact details, in case further information is needed.

When requesting the removal of a vehicle, the billing address must be clearly marked on the request form. Parking control will charge the person requesting the removal if the owner or holder of the vehicle does not reclaim their vehicle.

As the ownership of the vehicle will be transferred to the City of Vantaa 67 days after the removal, it is possible that the landowner or property holder will receive an invoice only after the 67 days.
