Monkeypox vaccinations offered by appointment – vaccination points in Helsinki

From 11 October 2022, the monkeypox vaccine will be offered by appointment to people aged 18 and over who are at the greatest risk of contracting monkeypox.

The vaccine is being offered to the following groups

  • Men who have sex with men and use PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) medication for HIV prevention
  • Men who have sex with men and are waiting for PrEP treatment
  • HIV-infected men who have sex with men and have had multiple sexual partners in the last six months
  • Men who have sex with men, have had multiple sexual partners in the last six months and at least one of the following:
    • group sex or
    • a diagnosed sexually transmitted disease or
    • have visited places at home or abroad where sex between men has taken place, or have attended events at home or abroad where sex between men has taken place.

There is currently a limited amount of monkeypox vaccinations available. Therefore, Vantaa citizens are vaccinated in Helsinki.

The vaccination points:

  • Jätkäsaari vaccination point (Tyynenmerenkatu 6 L3). Book an appointment by calling 09 310 46300 (weekdays 8:00–16:00)
  • Hivpoint office in Kalasatama (Hermannin rantatie 2 B). Book an appointment at hivpoint.fi

The vaccine being used is Jynneos. The series of vaccinations consists of two doses. Information on the second dose will be communicated separately. The vaccinations are free of charge.

Be prepared to prove your identity, for example with an ID or Kela card, and take it out while you are waiting.

Please do not get vaccinated if you have symptoms consistent with monkeypox infection. Wear a mask when being vaccinated and take care of hand hygiene.

After vaccination, you should stay for at least 15 minutes to be monitored.
