Information on new first-grade students' future school published

Parents/guardians of new first-grade pupils can now see in Wilma the school where their child will begin in autumn 2024. If you have not given your authorisation for the use of electronic services, the decision on your child's local school will have been sent to your home by post. This bulletin also contains guidance and important dates for you to check.

The Wilma application 

Wilma is an electronic progress book for communication between the school and home, which works on the Internet. Log into Wilma here. 

You can find instructions on how to use Wilma on the Vantaa website. You can also get help from Vantaa Info and your child's school. See contact details for Vantaa Info here. 

Introduction day, 8 May 2024 

New first grade pupils will have the opportunity to visit their future school on Wednesday 8 May 2024. The principals will send out more detailed invitations to the introduction day via Wilma. 

Apply for after-school activities provided for a fee by 30 April 2024 

Private bodies, the parish, associations and organisations arrange after-school activities in Vantaa schools or in facilities located near schools. Apply for after-school activities via Wilma by 30 April 2024.

Apply for school transportation benefit by 28 April 2024 

You can apply for school transportation benefit, a travel card and taxi transportation for your child via Wilma by 28 April 2024.

Enrol your child in teaching in their own native tongue 

If your child's mother tongue is not Finnish, enrol them in lessons in their own native tongue.  

You can enrol your child in teaching in their own native tongue at the introduction day for new first-grade students on 8 May 2024. You can get an enrolment form from the school. You can also enrol in August when the school starts.

When a family moves to Vantaa, the regional manager assigns the child to a local school. You can find more information and instructions on how to enrol here.
