Contraception and family planning clinics serve women and men of all ages. Visits to the clinic are free of charge, but you have to make an appointment beforehand.

The City of Vantaa provides the customer’s first long term contraceptive for free. Also, the customers of services for substance abusers can get the first long term contraceptive after an abortion for free. In addition, customers under 20 years old can get free contraception for the first nine months. Those who have to change their contraceptive due to medical reasons, can get a free start-up package for three months. Condoms and emergency contraception (postcoital contraception) are also available.
Free contraception is distributed at the contraception and family planning clinics. Only registered citizens of Vantaa and students from other municipalities who study in Vantaa can get the free contraception.
Fully free-of-charge contraception for under-20-year-olds as of the beginning of March
Vantaa will offer fully free-of-charge contraception for under-20-year-olds as of March 1, 2018. The contraception options consist of contraceptive bills, vaginal ring or contraceptive batches, long-term preventers as well as condoms.

You do not have to make an advance appointment: you just take a queue number and wait for your turn.
If you are under 20 years old and want to start contraception, make an appointment with a public health nurse or a nurse. Meanwhile, if you are over 20, make an appointment with a nurse or a doctor. Gynecological examination is not done on a young person's first visit to the clinic. All appointments at the contraception clinic are free of charge for the customer. In addition, the first nine months of contraception is free for under 20-year-olds. A contraceptive is chosen based on an interview with you, as well as your own preference. While at the clinic, your blood pressure, weight, and height will be measured.
Prepare to answer some questions regarding
your state of health, possible diseases and medication

any diseases common in the family
your gynecological history: how old you were when you began to menstruate, the menstrual cycle (the time from the beginning of your period to the beginning of your next period), the duration of menstruation, whether you have menstrual pain, the date when your last period started
