Physical Therapy

Read Rehabilitation Services’ topical notifications here.

The aim of physical therapy is to improve and sustain health, mobility, and functional abilities. We at the Physical Therapy unit want to support the customer’s ability to cope independently and help them to utilize their own strength.

Services

  • Guidance and counseling
  • Therapy and guidance appointments (including remote consultation and therapy)
  • Group-form rehabilitation
  • Assessment of coping at home
  • Physiotherapist's direct access—in acute cases—assesses the need for treatment of KELA or insurance company customers with severe disabilities, unless their care is the responsibility of specialized care.
  • Expert services (e.g., education and consultation services).

To get physical therapy, you need a referral from a health and social welfare professional. We then contact the customers per the assessment of need for care and the urgency of care. If your child is currently a customer at the Counseling Bureau or attending school, you can make an online reservation for them, after you have received a referral.

Physical Therapy Fees

Individual customer service visits cost 9 € per visit. The group services are free of charge, however, they always include two chargeable individual visits: one at the beginning and one at the end of the course. These individual visits cost 9 € per visit.

The services are free of charge for all under 18-year-olds.

Physiotherapist`s direct access

Is your back troubling you? Do you have pain in your shoulder? Vantaa physiotherapist's direct access may help you in accute cases.

Physiotherapist's direct access is meant for over-16-year-old customers suffering from a new—lasting for less than 6 weeks—musculoskeletal disorder such as backache, disorder of the neck, shoulders or elbow. Based on the assessment of the need for care, you will be referred to a physiotherapist's direct access. The physiotherapist will examine the problem and give you instructions for enhanced mobility and pain reduction. When required, the physiotherapist can give you a sick leave certificate.

Physiotherapists are experts in caring for musculoskeletal organs. Timely beginning of physiotherapy is important and will hasten the return of your ability to work and functional capacities. According to Current Care Guidelines, more than 90% of musculoskeletal disorders are treated conservatively, that is, by non-surgical treatment. Active practice has been proven to be effective in treating musculoskeletal diseases and in rehabilitation.
