Medical Helpline 116 117 service launched in Vantaa
On Monday, October 1, 2018, Vantaa launched the Medical Helpline 116 117 phone service, available around the clock, on each day of the year.
Call the toll-free Medical Helpline 116 117 number before going to HUS Peijas Hospital's emergency clinic, when your health center is closed. As of October 1, calls made to HUS Peijas Hospital's health center on-call service will be transferred to Medical Helpline. In case of an emergency, you can go to Peijas emergency clinic without calling first.
Medical Helpline nurses will assess your need for care over the phone and refer you to appropriate care. If your situation does not require you to visit the emergency clinic, you will be given self-care instructions or referred to your health center on the next weekday. Medical Helpline employees are trained nurses and public-health nurses that will consult a doctor, when required.
Outside office hours, you can call Medical Helpline for instructions in case of acute health problems. On weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00, Vantaa residents can call the city’s own health counseling, tel. 09 839 10023, for advice.
When making an appointment at your health center, call Vantaa health centers’ phone service on weekdays from 8:00 to 12:00, tel. 09 839 50000. At the appointment number, you can also inquire about laboratory results and issues related to referrals.
In life-threatening cases, always call the emergency telephone number 112.
The Medical Helpline service is used in Uusimaa, also in Helsinki, Kerava, Porvoo and Hyvinkää hospital districts. The entire Uusimaa will be included in the service as of January 1, 2019.
