Come enjoy a movie picnic in Tikkurila’s Library Park

The top-notch musical La La Land will be presented in Tikkurila’s Library Park under a starry sky, as well as the new domestic short film Super Comfort. The shows are open to all and free of charge.

Due to rainy conditions the planned movie picnic is rescheduled to Tuesday 27.8.

A movie event will occupy the lawn of Tikkurila’s Library Park on Tuesday, 27 August, starting at 8:00 PM. The movies will start rolling after sunset, at about 9:30 PM. It is recommended to bring a blanket or something else to sit on for the picnic style outdoor show.

The evening’s main feature is director Damien Chazelle’s La La Land (2016). Loved by audiences and praised by critics, the seven-time Golden Globe and five-time Oscar winner movie is a tribute to Los Angeles, the city of stars, and to Hollywood musicals.

The feature before La La Land, Super Comfort is a brand-new short film directed by Kirsikka Saari. Super Comfort is a humane story of a meeting that does not go according to the organizer’s plans. Saari’s previous short film, ”Do I Have to Take Care of Everything?” represented Finland as an Oscar candidate in January 2014.

– We want to bravely try a new kind of event concept. At a movie picnic, the people of Vantaa get to enjoy a different kind of movie experience. It is especially fine that a short film made by a domestic movie producer will be seen in the Library Park, rejoices Reeli Karimäki, the director of children’s culture and culture production for the City of Vantaa.

The movies will be projected with a theater projector on an 8.6-meter-wide silver screen. The event will be arranged, weather permitting, and possible changes in the program can be verified on the event’s Facebook page.

The outdoor feature is arranged by Pop Up Kino Helsinki together with Tila ja Toiminta ry. Vantaa’s culture services is the event’s main partner. Pop Up Kino Helsinki and Tila ja Toiminta ry have also worked for a year and a half to revitalize the Rekola vintage movie theater.
