Kivistö library point and youth center to open on October 7
Kivistö residents’ services are supplemented with a new library point and youth center. The bright and colorful premises are situated at Topaasikuja 11.
Opening hours and services of the library point
The library point is open as follows: Mondays at 13:00-20:00, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:00-16:00, Thursdays at 13:00-20:00, and Fridays at 9:00-16:00.
The system that makes self-service use of the library possible will be available in the latter part of the year.
The customer premises of the library point amount to around 110 square meters. In the beginning, the number of services is limited: you can pick up your reserved items, borrow material, and read newspapers and magazines. A small collection of new books and children's books will be available for borrowing. There is also a small study space that the customers can use.
Kivistö residents responded eagerly to last spring’s questionnaire and could, thus, influence the magazines, adult books and children's area’s furniture to be acquired for the library. The furniture in the children's area will be supplemented in the course of the fall, based on the responses given. The interior decoration of the premises will also be supplemented as regards guideposts.

Opening hours and services of the youth center
The youth center is situated on the business premises next to the library, on the ground floor of an apartment building. The activities of the youth center are meant for 10-17-year-olds. There will be two employees working at the youth center.
When planning the new premises, the aim was to utilize the full potential of the small premises. To the extent possible, the premises can be used by the library and vice versa. We will further chart the cooperation options, when operations begin.
“Kivistö youth center is fairly small, but very sympathetic. There will be console games, subsoccer, cooking possibility, as well as the possibility of hanging out together in a safe environment,” tells Anne Laari, youth work supervisor for the Aviapolis-Kivistö area.
The youth center will be open:
Mon and Thurs at 14:00-17:00 small children (4th—6th-graders), at 15:00-20:00 older children (7th-graders - 17-year-olds)
Fri at 15:00-17:00 small children (4th—6th-graders) and at 15:00-22:00 older children (7th-graders - 17-year-olds)
The youth center will have hobby activities on Wednesdays. We will plan the contents of activities based on the interests of the young, when operations begin.
