7th—9th-graders in distance learning according to the alternation model
The metropolitan area coronavirus coordination group has decided that 7th—9th-graders in basic education will continue in distance learning until April 9, 2021, after which the alternation model will be applied from April 12 to April 30, 2021.
Implementing the alternation model
As of April 12, instruction for 7th—9th-graders will follow the alternation model where students alternate between contact instruction and distance learning. The alternation model will be continued till April 30, unless there are significant changes in the coronavirus situation. The alternation model will be applied from April 12 to April 30, 2021, in Vantaa schools in such a way that each grade spends 1 week in contact instruction and 2 weeks in distance learning.
April 12-16: 9th-graders in contact instruction, otherwise in distance learning
April 19-23; 7th-graders in contact instruction, otherwise in distance learning
April 26-30: 8th-graders in contact instruction, otherwise in distance learning.
Students in grades 1-6 and students in grades 7-9 who need special education as well as students in preparatory instruction will continue in contact instruction. This decision may be changed if there are changes in the coronavirus situation.
Meals during distance learning
Students in distance learning are offered the possibility of taking a warm school meal at their own school at 12:30 - 13:00. The students will directly enter the school canteen and immediately leave it after their meal. No separate enrollment is required.
Instead of school lunch, students in distance learning may pick up a lunch bag. Distribution of lunch bags during alternating learning takes place at the student’s own school once a week, on Wednesday at 14:00-16:00. The guardian or the student can fetch the bag from the place specified by the school. The meal-services provider is responsible for distributing the lunch bags. No advance enrollment is required for picking up the lunch bag.
