The EU Schengen internal border controls are removed, the Covid-19 certificates of all passengers will be checked at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport

The internal border controls and entry restrictions between the EU's Schengen states will end on 25 July in regard to traffic between Finland and other Schengen countries.

At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, health safety will be ensured in continuation by the health authorities checking the Covid-19 certificates of those coming to Finland from all risk countries as determined by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The previous internal border inspection carried out by the Finnish Border Guard will be replaced by the inspection of Covid-19 certificates put into place by the City of Vantaa.

The Border Guard will continue border control at the external borders of Schengen, and at the same time will start checking Covid-19 certificates based on a request for official assistance made by the health authorities of the City of Vantaa.

A passenger arriving in Finland is required by the Communicable Diseases Act to present upon entry an EU Covid-19 certificate or other reliable certificate of vaccination protection and/or of having had the illness or a certificate of a prior negative Covid-19 test.

If the passenger does not have the appropriate certificates to show, he or she is obliged to take a Covid-19 test upon entry, as well as the so-called 72-hour test.

If a passenger presents a certificate of a partial vaccination series or a negative test result upon arrival in the country, the passenger must take the so-called 72-hour test at his or her place of residence or stay. Personal data is collected from passengers obliged to take the test and is transmitted to the health authorities of the place of residence or stay.

A passenger can facilitate entry by booking the required entry-related Covid-19 test appointments using the FINENTRY service.
