The guardians have to ensure that their child participates in preschool education or other activities in order to achieve the goals of preschool education a year before the beginning of compulsory education.
All six-year-old children (born in 2011) must participate in preschool education in the 2017-2018 school year. Additionally, seven-year-old children whose school entry has been postponed and five-year-olds who will attend extended compulsory education are entitled to participate in preschool education. Preschool education is free of charge and includes one daily meal.
If You Live in Vantaa
In Vantaa, the application period for preschool education is in January. The application period for the 2017-2018 school year was on January 9 - 31, 2017. You can enroll online or submit a paper application also after the application period. Online enrollment requires online banking identifiers or an electronic ID card. Online enrollment form is found on the right-hand sidebar or by clicking the upper bar “Asioi verkossa.”
You can also print out the applications or get them from day-care centers. Submit paper applications to any day-care center or send them to Early Childhood Education’s office, address: Asematie 10, 01300 Vantaa.
If You Are Moving to Vantaa
If you are moving to Vantaa in the middle of the school year, you can enroll online or fill in the paper application and submit it to Early Childhood Education's office, address: Asematie 10, 01300 Vantaa. If you do not know your new address and preferred preschool education place yet, you can just fill in a request for preferred district instead of naming a specific day-care center. Indicate in your application that you are moving to Vantaa.
