My working ability has deteriorated, or it has become more difficult for me to find employment

A deteriorated working ability or a difficult life situation can make finding employment challenging. We offer you services to promote your well-being and support your employment.

Cross-sectoral employment services

The cross-sectoral joint service promoting employment (TYM, previously TYP) supports you if your life situation or deteriorated functional ability makes it difficult for you to find employment. You will complete a service need assessment together with your employment expert, a social instructor from the Wellbeing Services County, a nurse and Kela’s rehabilitation expert to assess what kind of support you need.

You will also be prepared an employment plan, which includes services that meet your needs. We offer you services to make finding employment easier for you. These services include:

  • rehabilitative work activities
  • work try-out
  • work training

The services aim to push you closer to working life and support your employment.

If you have challenges related to your working and functional ability or life situation, discuss them with your employment expert.

Cross-sectoral services for young people

Young people, i.e. jobseekers aged under 30, have access to services available to adults and special cross-sectoral services targeted at young people. At Vantaa’s Ohjaamo service point, you have employment services experts, a social instructor, a Kela employee, housing services advisors, student counsellors, outreach youth workers and an employee from youth workshops at your service.

Towards working life through services promoting employment

The services promoting employment get you closer to working life. Rehabilitative work activities help you manage your daily life and reinforce your preparedness for working life. As a customer of supported employment services, you may be directed to participate in a work try-out or work training intended for all jobseekers regardless of their health. In a work try-out, you get to try a job or field in practice. In work training, you are assigned a personal instructor who helps you find employment or a study place.

Rehabilitative work activities

In rehabilitative work activities, you get to learn about professions that would suit you. You can explore your suitability for different jobs. Rehabilitative work activities help you manage your daily life and equip you for working life. The service also helps to assess your working ability.

To participate in the service, you must first contact your employment expert. You will prepare an activation plan for rehabilitative work activities or a cross-sectoral employment plan together with your employment expert.

Work try-out

A work try-out is for jobseekers with shortcomings in their training, for those who are considering a career change or for those who have been out of the labour market for a longer period of time. You do not have to be unemployed to participate in a work try-out. For example, a work try-out may be a viable option for someone working on a zero-hours contract. The purpose of a work try-out is not to gain work experience. If you have just completed studies that do not directly prepare you for a specific profession or job, a work try-out may be justified in order to gain a better understanding of your career options. If you are interested in a work try-out, ask for more information from your employment expert.

Job coaching

In work training, you improve your job search skills with a coach. You will receive concrete support for job search, tips for creating a CV and help for preparing for a job interview. Work training also helps you find a study place and apply to higher education. If you are interested in work training, discuss it with your employment expert.

Health check-ups for the unemployed

As an unemployed jobseeker, you are entitled to a health check-up for the unemployed. The check-up is free of charge. In the check-up, your health is examined and your working and functional ability is assessed. You can seek out the service yourself or ask your employment expert to refer you to a health check-up.

Help from social services

If you have challenges in managing your daily life, you can get advice and guidance from the social services of the Wellbeing Services County of Vantaa and Kerava. You can contact the services of adult social work if you are over 25 years old and need advice on matters such as:

  • benefits
  • debt
  • housing
  • substance abuse
  • mental health problems

Youth social work supports young people aged 18–24 in the same themes.
