Cultural services for children

Cultural services for children provide artistic and cultural services for children, young people and families.

Introduction

Vantaa has three children's cultural centres and many other facilities that allow you to experience and create art through music, theatre and dance performances, exhibitions, events, workshops, and recreational activities. Cultural services are also organised for young people in cooperation with other operators. Services and activities are organised for schools, day-care centres and pre-schools in accordance with the cultural education plan of Vantaa.

We develop art education and cultural servi
ces through various projects and experiments. Children's cultural services are part of the network of Finnish children's cultural centres.

Principles for safer spaces

Children’s cultural centres are discrimination-free zones. The purpose of the principles for safer spaces is to make public events more supportive, inclusive and safer for children. Vantaa has zero tolerance for violence, bullying and discrimination. The staff of children’s cultural centres is happy to help solve problem situations and they are committed to the principles for safer spaces.

The values of Vantaa's children’s cultural centres are based on equality, equity, art, inclusivity and accessibility. We promote equal opportunities to enjoy art and cultural services. We cherish individuals’ rights to express themselves through art and culture. We respect the right of every human being to be an equal member of society.

Accessible art hobby

We use the Saavutettava taideharrastus (Accessible art hobby) label. This means that we are committed to promoting accessibility in recreational activities. In art, we take into account all kinds of children and adults. Activity participants, families and guardians can safely tell us about a child’s, young person’s or adult’s need for support. Our goal is for every child and adult to feel successful in their hobby.

Aids and assistants

During your visit, you can borrow aids to help you participate in and focus an activity and communicate with others. Available aids include Time Timers, hearing protectors, visual support material, sensory toys, fidget toys and cushions. Please contact the children's cultural centre staff if you have any questions and wish to borrow aids.

Assistants can always participate in activities free of charge.

Guide dogs are welcome at children’s cultural centres.
