General information on elections
Voting is a basic right.
Finland has five elections: county elections, parliamentary election, European Parliament election, municipal elections at four-year intervals, as well as presidential election.
How to vote in elections
During the advance voting period you can choose a voting place most suitable for you in Vantaa or anywhere else in Finland. Vantaa has 13 advance voting places. On the election day, you can only vote in the polling place specified in your polling card.
You can find your polling station on Election Day on a map based on your home address at www.aanestyspaikat.fi (the service is available only around election time). The service also provides the nearest advance polling station.
If you are unsure about your polling place or right to vote, do not hesitate to contact the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (tel. 029 553 6370).
When you go to the polling place, remember to take your identity card with you, for example, your driver’s license, passport, ID card, or a corresponding photo ID.
If you do not have a document verifying your identity, you can get a temporary, free-of-charge ID card at a police station.
