Start-up grant
Start-up Grant (Starttiraha) helps secure the personal livelihood of a new entrepreneur during the early stages of starting a business. The grant is paid for five days a week and is equivalent to the basic daily allowance. The monthly support amounts to approximately €750 before taxes.
The start-up grant is discretionary and can be granted for six months from the start of full-time business operations or from the expansion of part-time business to full-time. An extension may be granted, with the total duration of the grant not exceeding 12 months.
If the recipient of the start-up grant earns income unrelated to the business during the grant period or receives public support for wage costs, the amount of such income is deducted from the grant. Deductible income includes, for example, student benefits and wages not related to the business. However, certain benefits such as child benefit, housing allowance, or social assistance are not considered deductible income.
