As an unemployed jobseeker, you can go to another EU or EEA country or Switzerland to look for work and receive unemployment benefits from Finland.
You may receive the basic unemployment allowance from Kela or earnings-related allowance from an unemployment fund. You cannot receive labour market support during your stay abroad.

You can receive unemployment benefits in the other country for up to three months. In order for the benefit to be paid, the local employment authority must also register
you as a jobseeker in the country where you are looking for work.

Prerequisites

You can receive unemployment benefits abroad if

- you are fully unemployed
- you are registered as a jobseeker with the employment services in your area
- you receive basic unemployment allowance or earnings-related allowance.

In addition, before your trip, you must have been unemployed and available to the labour market for at least four weeks. The employment authority may, at its discretion, shorten this period for a specific reason. Time spent participating in an employment-promoting service may also be counted as unemployment.
