New residential buildings in Martinlaakso and more commercial space in Pakkala
The City Council of Vantaa convened for its first meeting of the year on January 27. During the meeting, amendments to the local detailed plans for Raappavuorenrinne in Martinlaakso and Harkkokuja in Pakkala were approved.
The detailed plan amendment for Raappavuorenrinne in Martinlaakso enables the construction of a development that enhances the cityscape along Raappavuorentie and improves the visibility of the residential area. This requires the demolition of the current rental housing buildings and their replacement with a more efficient block of apartment buildings, thereby renewing and diversifying the housing stock in the area. The block will include seven apartment buildings with heights ranging from seven to 13 storeys. The buildings will also contain commercial premises and shared facilities supporting residential living.
The detailed plan amendment for Harkkokuja in Pakkala aims to change the block area designated for office buildings into a block area for commercial buildings, allowing for the construction of space-demanding specialty retail premises, office spaces, leisure service facilities, and production spaces that do not cause environmental disturbance. The building rights for the block will be reduced to 10,400 square metres of floor area from the current 18,000. At the same time, the number of storeys will be reduced from four to two.
In addition, the meeting included discussions on motions submitted by councillors concerning a youth employment guarantee, strengthening the competence level of children and young people, library services in Koivukylä, the Tikkurila market square, reducing light pollution, consumption of animal-based products, outdoor swimming opportunities, regional youth work, the Kolohonka youth centre, and the City Council’s seminars and trips.
