The depot zoning plan enables the construction of a planned tram depot for the Vantaa tram system in Vaarala, Vantaa. The City Board decided to submit the depot zoning plan to the City Council for approval.

The plan designates 20,000 square metres of floor area for storage, servicing and maintenance facilities for tram vehicles, as well as office and staff facilities, within a block area reserved for buildings and structures serving municipal technical services, with a maximum of two storeys.

In addition, the plan includes a protective green area where the environment will be preserved. The zoning plan provides regulations concerning, among other things, groundwater protection, carbon neutrality, energy, noise control, urban landscape, and green construction in the area.

The zoning amendment for Sadulakuja in Hakunila enables the construction of a new daycare centre. Once realized, the daycare centre will respond to the growing number of children of early childhood education age in the Hakunila district.

Special attention is paid in the planning to comfort and the quality of the immediate environment. The consideration of the historical road alignment, as well as safe and functional transport connections to the area, are important.

The amendment reserves approximately 2,600 square metres of floor area for a daycare building with yard areas. In connection with the zoning amendment, an underground zoning plan will also be prepared for the existing tram tunnel of the Vuosaari harbour railway within the planning area.

The zoning amendment for Palotie in Kaivoksela includes the infill development of a detached housing area and business plots. The area will include blocks for residential buildings, detached houses, small houses, terraced houses, as well as industrial and warehouse buildings related to the existing built environment, along with a protective green area and related streets.

New daycare centre in Myyrmäki and new resident and youth facilities in Aviapolis

In addition, the City Board approved the needs assessments for the Viherpuisto daycare centre and the Aviapolis resident facilities. Daycare Aalto will be a new building with 126 places.

Daycare Aalto, which replaces the former Viherpuisto daycare centre, is needed to respond to the growing number of children in the Myyrmäki district. Construction will take place in 2026–2027, and the daycare centre will open in June 2027.

As the population of the Aviapolis district grows, the need for communal spaces will be addressed by establishing the currently missing resident and youth facilities in the area. The new rental spaces will be introduced between 2028 and 2030 in connection with the development of commercial and service premises in the Aviapolis station area.
