Minor changes in libraries’ opening and service hours in spring 2026

The Sunday opening hours of Tikkurila and Myyrmäki libraries will remain unchanged. The exception is January 4, 2026, when both libraries will be closed.

The opening hours of Koivukylä library will remain unchanged. The changes do not apply to the operation of the library’s mobile library. 

Self-service and independent use hours will change

In the Hakunila, Lumo and Martinlaakso, Myyrmäki, and Tikkurila libraries, the independent hours will be extended by an hour, i.e., from 8 am to 10 am. Independent use refers to the time when the library is open and staff is present, but the staff is not working in customer service. During independent use hours, staff will take care of work related to customer reservations and logistics, for example.

There will also be changes in the opening hours and self-service hours of the Länsimäki, Point, Mosaiikki, and Pähkinärinne libraries. The opening hours and self-service hours of the Pähkinärinne library will be focused on the weekend in accordance with the new opening hours of the youth center.

Self-service libraries are libraries that have a system installed that enables customers to use the library independently. These libraries can also be used when the staff is not present. Read more about self-service libraries.  

What is the goal of increasing independent use hours or self-service hours?

Staff work will be focused on times when many customers visit the library. This serves both customer service needs and the city's financial balancing efforts. These measures ensure that staff is present in the libraries when their help is needed most.

• Mon–Thu 8-20
• Fri 8-16
• Sat 9-16
• Independent use Mon–Fri 8-10  

Koivukylä Library: 

• Mon–Thu 8-20
• Fri 8-16
• Sat 9-16  

Länsimäki Library: 

• Mon and Tue 13-20, self-service library 7-13
• Wed and Thu 10-16, self-service library 7-10 and 16-20
• Fri 10-16, self-service library 7-10
• Sat self-service library 7-16
• Sun, self-service library is closed.   

Mosaiikki Library:  

• Mon-Thu 10-20, self-service library 7-10
• Fri 10-16, self-service library 7-10
• Sat 9-16, self-service library 7-9
• Sun self-service library 9-18  

Point Library: 

• Mon and Thu 13-20, self-service library 7-13
• Tue and Wed 10-16, self-service library 7- 10 and 16-20
• Fri 10-16, self-service library 7-10 and 16-18
• Sat self-service library 7-16
• Sun, self-service library is closed. 

Point Library is closed as of May 1, due to the library's move. The library will move to the Jumbo shopping center (Flamingo wing) in the autumn. 

Pähkinärinne Library:

• Wed and Thu 14-20
• Thu-Fri self-service library 7-14

Tikkurila and Myyrmäki Libraries: 

• Mon-Thu 8-20, independent use 8-10
• Fri 8-16, independent use 8-10
• Sat 9-16
• Sun independent use 9-16 (4.1. closed)
