Finnish Aviation Museum

Yläpilvi is the Finnish name for high-altitude tropospheric clouds. It is also the name of the cafe operated by the Aviation Museum. Café Yläpilvi serves hot and cold drinks, sweet and salty cafeteria products, and lunch salads. Most of the dishes are made fresh on-site, and the pastries come from bakeries in Vantaa. Café Yläpilvi also provides catering services for all types of events organised at the museum, such as birthday parties and corporate meetings.

The Finnish Aviation Museum is easy to reach by public transportation, bicycle, car or walking. It is located in the Aviapolis section of Vantaa, which was designed for ease of walking.

Access by public transportation

• Local I and P trains from Helsinki stop at the Aviapolis station, which is about 150 metres from the museum.
• From Helsinki you can take buses 561 from Itäkeskus or 615 and 617 from Elielinaukio.

Access by city bikes

Vantaa city bikes have a stand at Karhumäenportti (1055), only a few hundred metres from the museum.

Access by car

The Finnish Aviation Museum is easily accessed by car. If you are driving towards the Helsinki-Vantaa airport you will see attraction signs leading to the museum. Museum guests can park for free, but the parking lot may be crowded during special events.

The museum is mainly accessible but there are stairs to some objects in the exhibition. There are disabled parking lots in front of the museum and an accessible toilet in the entrance hall. Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the museum. Service dogs are welcome. Please keep in mind the hangers are not heated, so dress appropriately.

An event organised at the Finnish Aviation Museum is sure to leave fond memories! The auditorium and meeting rooms are suitable for a wide range of events. A visit to the museum is included in the price of the rental space, and the museum can arrange a guided program, simulator flights or catering for your event. It is possible to rent the premises for use outside the museum’s normal opening hours.

Auditorium

The aviation-inspired Auditorium provides a venue for 215 people to experience a seminar, celebration or film screening. The Auditorium has state-of-the-art AV equipment and the seats are real airplane seats.

Meeting Rooms

The Avia Cabinet has space for 10-30 persons, depending upon the table arrangement. The Pilvenveikot Cabinet is perfect for a group of 8 people. All meeting rooms are equipped with a projector, screen and flipchart.
