Building of Kuusijärvi’s new smoke saunas to begin in September – saunas and beach closed for November
Because of the construction work, the present saunas, main building, as well as Kuusijärvi’s beach area, including the docks, will be entirely closed for the month of November. In addition, the Karhunpesä changing room, favored by ice swimmers, will be closed at the beginning of September because of safety reasons. The changing room will remain closed at least till the end of 2024.

Construction of Kuusijärvi Recreation Centre Vantaa's new smoke saunas will start at the beginning of September. During the construction work, the driving route to the construction site will pass through Kuusijärvi’s beach.
Because of safety reasons, we must restrict use of the beach area during the construction work. We have set restrictions on use due to safety reasons particularly in such places from which users of the beach would almost directly turn to the driving route to the construction site.
Before construction begins, we will place sign boards informing about safe passage in the area during the construction.
The first construction measures will already begin in August with the preparation and groundwork for the restroom and info shelter, which are built beside the parking lot. The construction site will be fenced with construction site barriers, so that no harm will be caused to swimmers or other outdoor men and women.
The beach and its services will close for November because of construction work
All Kuusijärvi Recreation Centre Vantaa’s services as well as the beach area, including its docks, will be closed for the month of November.
In addition, the Karhunpesä changing room, favored by ice swimmers, will be closed at the beginning of September. The changing room will remain closed at least till the end of 2024. Because of the restrictions, no keys will exceptionally be sold this year. The separate changing cubicles in the vicinity of the beach will remain available, except for the month of November.
Moreover, the dock in front of the big smoke sauna will already be closed as of the beginning of September. Swimmers are directed to a fenced route to the actual swimming dock.
Likewise, the barrier-free beach route in front of the big smoke sauna will be closed for the duration of construction from the beginning of September 2024 till June 2025. You can reach the barbeque place from behind the smoke saunas, from the route beginning from the parking lot. The other recreation trails in the area are available as usual.
Geothermal work improves sufficiency of warm washing water
In addition to two new smoke saunas, Kuusijärvi Recreation Centre Vantaa will gain a separate building for washing and dressing. One of the new smoke saunas, as well as the washing and dressing building, will be barrier free.
At the same time, there will be geothermal repair and expansion work during which provision of warm water in the area cannot be guaranteed as usual. Therefore, the electric and smoke saunas, washing premises, and café will be closed for the duration of the renovation work in November.
Furthermore, building the new saunas and washing premises requires that new plumbing routes be dug and installed between the parking lot and the smoke saunas.
The expansion and repair work aims to ensure sufficiency of warm household water on both the present and the new washing premises. Since the services of Kuusijärvi Recreation Centre Vantaa will be unavailable, other maintenance work will also be conducted in the saunas and on the washing premises.
