Vantaa Services for Employment and International Customers are off to a busy start
As of January 2025, the City of Vantaa has been in charge of organizing public employment services for Vantaa residents. The services for Vantaa job seekers and the area’s employers are off to a busy start, and the counseling service in Tikkurila has occasionally been overcrowded. The phone services and email have also seen some heavy use.
Praise for the multilingual service
The high demand for counseling services came as a surprise to the Services for Employment and International Customers. Customers have especially been in contact with the service for matters relating to starting their job seeking and checking their situation.
– Due to the high volume of contacts, we are aiming to guide our customers to independently use Job Market Finland’s E-Services, where they can reach their employment specialist quickly and take care of various employment-related matters. We are constantly developing our services and looking for ways to reduce overcrowding, says Chief Service Specialist Sara Liski.
The customers of Vantaa's Employment and International services have been satisfied with the multilingual counseling service. Thanks to Vantaa’s multilingual staff, the customers have been able to use the services smoothly in their own mother tongue. The multilingual counseling service works together with the Employment Services at Vernissakatu in Tikkurila.
– In the multilingual counseling service, the integration specialists give advice and guide customers forward in, for example, filling out forms and using digital services, understanding regulatory decisions and processes, and dealing with matters relating to work and training, says Service Supervisor Aadan Ibrahim.
On the other hand, customers have been dissatisfied with the fact that new wage subsidy decisions cannot currently be made. In Vantaa, as in many other municipalities, wage subsidy appropriations are mainly tied to the payments of decisions made in previous years.
– We are currently looking into the situation surrounding appropriations. However, the payment of previously granted subsidies will continue normally, says Service Supervisor Mari Leinonen.
We respond to our customers’ needs
The City of Vantaa acts agilely. The city’s services can be improved based on observed needs. The aim is for the city’s services to better respond to the needs of customers in Vantaa.
The Employment Services are gradually establishing their role among the city’s services. Cooperating more closely with the city's other services creates new opportunities for promoting employment. When looking at the big picture, companies and employers also play an important role in improving the employment situation in Vantaa.
– We hope that employers will not hesitate to contact us. We will also be actively in contact with the employers in the area going forward, says Account Manager Sanna-Mari Levijoki.
