The most popular parties in the county and municipal elections in Vantaa were the SDP, the National Coalition Party, and the Greens

The city of Vantaa gained 67 new council members, and the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county gained 69 new representatives chosen by the residents. Voting was more active on election day than during the advance voting period – the municipal election turnout decreased, while the county election turnout increased compared to the previous elections. The elections were concluded on April 13, 2025.

The voter turnout for the municipal elections across Finland was 54.2%, a decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to the 2021 municipal elections. The voter turnout for the county elections across Finland was 51.7%, an increase of 4.2 percentage points compared to the 2022 regional elections. Vantaa had the second-lowest number of votes cast in the entire country.

Municipal Elections in Vantaa

In Vantaa, the voter turnout for the municipal elections was 45.7%, a decrease of 2.7 percentage points from the previous municipal elections. The highest number of votes was cast in Ylästö (65.9%) and the lowest in Havukallio (29.9%). There were 1,537 invalid votes.

In the municipal elections in Vantaa, the most popular parties were the SDP (30.5%), the National Coalition Party (25.7%), and the Greens (13.3%). The candidates who received the most votes were Antti Lindtman (SDP), Mika Kasonen (National Coalition Party), and Sirkka-Liisa Kähärä (SDP).

New City Council of Vantaa

The new council will begin its work on June 1, 2025, and will serve as the city's decision-makers for the next four years. The Vantaa City Council has 67 members, and the number of council seats each party receives is based on the number of votes they received. The number next to each party in the list below indicates the number of council seats, and the number in parentheses indicates the change from the 2021 municipal elections.

The average age of the new city council members in Vantaa is 47.5 years. The youngest council member is 21 years old, and the oldest is 76 years old. Of those elected, 37 are women and 30 are men.

The names in bold in the list are new council members who were not part of the council in the current term. The numbers in parentheses indicate the number of votes received by the elected members.

County Elections in Vantaa and the Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County

In Vantaa, 44.4% of eligible voters participated in the county elections. The voter turnout increased by 6.3 percentage points from the 2022 county elections. The voter turnout for the entire Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county was 45.2%. There was an unusually high number of invalid votes in the regional elections, with 3,446 invalid votes in Vantaa.

In the county elections for the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county, the most popular parties were the SDP (29.6%), the National Coalition Party (25.7%), and the Greens (13.0%). The candidates who received the most votes were Sirkka-Liisa Kähärä (SDP), Mika Kasonen (National Coalition Party), and Anne Karjalainen (SDP).

County Council of the Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County

The new county council will begin its work on June 1, 2025, and will be responsible for deciding on social and health services as well as rescue services in our wellbeing services county for the next four years. After the elections, 60 of the 69 members of the regional council of the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county are from Vantaa, and 9 are from Kerava.

The average age of the county council members of the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county is 49.4 years. Of those elected, 44 are women and 25 are men.
