City Executive Board approved the needs assessments for Myyrmäki’s urban culture centre
The City Executive Board of Vantaa decided at its meeting on Monday, 28 April to approve the needs assessments for the Experience House (Elämystentalo) and the Insight House (Oivallustentalo) in Myyrmäki’s urban culture centre. In addition, a zoning plan amendment for Viinikkala was made publicly available. Riikka Kiljander-Kiiskinen was appointed as the new Director of Group Services.
The Experience House and the Insight House are part of the future urban culture centre in Myyrmäki, which is a flagship project of Vantaa’s City Strategy 2022–2025.
New vitality and urban culture for Myyrmäki
The Insight House is the first phase of the future urban culture centre. It will provide permanent premises for seven culture and leisure services, as well as temporary facilities and a parking solution for the urban culture centre.
The Insight House is expected to attract approximately 340,000 visitors annually.
The Experience House is needed because the current Myyrmäki House does not provide sufficient or functional premises for the Vantaa Art Museum Artsi or the library. There is also a need to develop the Myyrmäki station area and strengthen regional vitality.
The estimated annual number of visitors to the Experience House is approximately 560,000.
The needs assessment presents a spatial solution that can be implemented either as a new building or as a conversion project, in which new spaces are constructed while utilising parts of the existing Myyrmäki House building.
Change in land use for a block on Turvalaaksontie in Viinikkala
In addition, a residential block consisting of two terraced houses on Turvalaaksontie in Viinikkala—located in an area significantly affected by aircraft noise—will be rezoned for industrial, warehouse, and office buildings.
New principles for employment, immigration, and integration in Vantaa
The City Executive Board decided to propose to the City Council the approval of new principles for employment, as well as for immigration and integration, for 2025.
The principles for promoting employment refer to the fundamental guidelines that steer employment promotion and support in Vantaa. These principles aim to ensure effective employment services so that jobseekers and employers receive the support they need.
The principles for immigration and integration guide integration efforts in Vantaa and support city-level work toward shared goals. In accordance with legislation that entered into force at the beginning of 2025, municipalities have assumed responsibility for promoting employment and overall responsibility for integration.
Disability policy programme submitted to the City Council
In addition, Vantaa’s disability policy programme for 2025 was submitted to the City Council for approval.
Based on studies, surveys, and input from the Disability Council, the programme highlights strengths and development needs across different sectors.
The disability policy programme will be monitored as part of the city’s work to promote health and wellbeing.
