Other information about Vantaa

  • Vantaa was known as Helsingin pitäjä (Socken of Helsinki) until the 19th century when it was named Helsingin maalaiskunta (Rural Municipality of Helsinki) in 1865. Vantaa became a market town in 1972 and a city in 1974.
