Boating and the archipelago
The Porslahti marina in Vuosaari has boat docking spots available for rent by Vantaa residents. Additionally, the city-owned recreational areas of Vetokannas in Kirkkonummi and the islands of Krokholmen and Tallholmen in the Sipoo archipelago are freely available for short-term camping. The islands are not handicap accessible.
The Porslahti marina
The Porslahti marina in Vuosaari, Helsinki has 318 boat docking spots for rent. The marina has 299 berths and 20 stern buoy spots, as well as two fenced winter storage lots.
The draught in the marina is roughly 2.5 metres. The concrete pontoon docks have electricity and water posts.
The seasonal rental for a docking spot is 150–300€. A rental requires joining the Porslahti boat club. Docking spots are applied for with the boat club.
Krokholmen island
The island of Krokholmen is located in the Sipoo archipelago, roughly 5km by boat from Vuosaari (25°14'00" / 60°11'80").
Over 8 hectares of this popular destination for recreation and camping are owned by the city of Vantaa. The short sailing distance also allows for day trips to the island.
Sauna rental on Krokholmen is 120€ per summer. Use of the sauna requires purchase of a sauna pass for 30€. The pass can be loaded at the Dixi centre Vantaa-info with the right to use the sauna between 1.5. and 30.9.
CAUTION: Vessels headed for the Vuosaari marina can cause strong and sudden currents and changes in water level on the Krokholmen beaches as they pass by the area. This phenomenon can be dangerous for boats moored on the beach and swimming children.

Tallholmen, Sipoonselkä archipelago
Tallholmen
The island of Tallholmen, owned by the city of Vantaa, is located in the archipelago stretching out beyond Sipoonselkä. The island is a fine resting location for boaters and fishermen. The shore can also be reached by sailboat.
This scenic and rocky island is located only 10 kilometres out from Vuosaari (25°18'30" / 60°09'80").
The Tallholmen villa is available for rental between 1.5. and 30.9. The villa has no heating, running water, or electricity. The interior is rather ascetic but includes a small fridge that runs on solar power as well as a gas stove. The villa rental is 85 € per day and reservations are made through the Timmi booking system. The key is retrieved from the Tikkurila Vantaa-info.

Vetokannas, Kirkkonummi
Vetokannas
Location: N59°59, 24' E24°24,94'. Vetokannas is located in Porkkalanniemi, at Tullandintie 43, Kirkkonummi. This recreational area is an excellent destination particularly for fishing and birdwatching. The environment is a rugged island landscape.
Located nearby are the Uusimaa Recreational Area Association, Kirkkonummi municipality and Nurmijärvi municipality recreational areas, which together form the greater Porkkala recreational area.
General area information
- Area 52 hectares, water area 98 hectares.
- The area is intended for day trips, outdoor activities and camping.
- Only short-term camping is allowed (less than 3 days).
- No caravans are allowed in the area.
- Two cooking gazebos.
- Composting toilets.
Driving instructions
Drive west on Ring III, and after reaching its end, continue on main road 51 toward Hanko. After roughly 4 km on road 51, exit on the right and continue on the left toward Porkkalanniemi. Follow Porkkalantie for roughly 20 minutes until you reach a bus turnaround and from there roughly 1 km toward the Border Guard naval station. You will reach a parking area with an info board on the recreational area.
