Ojapuiston koulu - Elective Courses 2026–2027

The course selections for next year's electives are made in Wilma.

Electives are always chosen for the upcoming school year. For example, current 6th graders choose their 7th-grade electives, and 7th graders choose their 8th-grade electives.

You can choose a variety of elective courses for your study program, such as:

  • Arts and practical subjects
  • Information technology (IT)
  • Interpersonal skills courses
  • Communication courses
  • Additional courses in languages and natural sciences

It is best to choose electives based on your own interests. You can select subjects that relate to your hobbies or areas where you want to improve.

8th Grade: Full-Year Art/Practical Elective and Full-Year General Elective

8th Grade: Full-Year General Elective

The full-year general elective will be graded on a numerical scale from 4 to 10 and will appear as an individual grade on the final report card.

B2 LANGUAGE

The study of a B2 language has three core objectives:

To learn to get by in the language in everyday life situations;
To learn to use the language with confidence;
To gain the foundation for further language development.

Studying an elective language in middle school serves as an introductory course to a foreign language. During the course, students will cover the basic structures of the language and learn to understand simple written and spoken texts. The students' own language production will focus primarily on speaking.

Key topics in the language curriculum include the individual and their environment, service and social encounters in daily life, and the customs of the target culture.

These electives meet for two hours a week throughout the entire school year, and the course will continue into the ninth grade.

8th Grade: Full-Year Art/Practical Elective

The full-year practical and arts elective is graded on a numerical scale from 4 to 10. The final assessment combines both the compulsory curriculum and the elective studies of the subject.

Therefore, they will be evaluated as a single, combined grade on the final report card.
