More than 2500 first-graders are starting school in Vantaa on Thursday

Schools in Vantaa are starting this and next week. This fall, more than 2500 new first-graders are starting school.

The school year in Vantaa begins on August 8th. 2500 new first-graders are starting school, 73 of whom are starting in Swedish-language basic education. In Swedish-language elementary schools, the school year begins on August 12th. 

In addition to the basic education schools, the school year is also starting this week in the City of Vantaa’s general upper secondary education institutions and the vocational college Varia. 

Both basic education and general upper secondary education institutions are starting the school year on August 8th. Nearly 1400 new students are starting their studies in the City of Vantaa’s general upper secondary education institutions. Of these, 54 will begin in the Swedish-speaking Helsinge Gymnasium, where the school year starts on August 12th, just like the Swedish-language basic education. 

Around 970 young people, who received a place through the joint application process, are starting their studies at the vocational college Varia. Studies at Varia will begin on August 7th. New courses, which can be applied for through continuous admission, will start throughout the year at Varia. 

134 young people who have completed elementary school will begin in preparatory education for degree training (TUVA). 

This fall, 2,550 children will begin pre-primary education. Preschool education in Vantaa is starting on August 8th.
