SYSTEMS exhibition artworks create views of the present and possible futures

News

The exhibition organized by the Vantaa Art Museum Artsi in cooperation with the agency for media art and digital culture M-Cult explores how digital technologies, the global economy or climate change can be viewed with different systems. The exhibition is open from 29 September to 3 December 2023 in Artsi's exhibition space in Myyrmäkitalo.

Still from Sasha Litvintseva & Beny Wagner: Total Conversion, 2023.

Digital technologies, the global economy and climate change can be viewed as systems of different actors and their interactions. System thinking makes it possible to structure a complex reality. By creating models of phenomena, systems also produce methods to change reality.

The artists in the exhibition want to change the world by dismantling and reimagining the systems of the environment, society, technology and economy. The works offer glimpses of the present and possible futures through artistic analyses and digital media.

The exhibition is curated by Minna Tarkka and Heidi Tikka in collaboration with Vantaa Art Museum Artsi. M-Cult operates in context of the European Media Art Platform EMAP and the exhibition showcases artworks created at the European Media Art Platform EMAP residencies as well as recent productions by M-Cult's local collaborators. The exhibition is supported by the Creative Europe cultural program of the European Union.
