City council approved programs for Safety and Neighborhood Development and local detailed plans for two daycare centers
In its meeting on October 19, 2026, Vantaa City Council approved the Positive Neighborhood Development Program and the Safety Program for 2026–2029. The city council also approved the local detailed plans for daycare centers in Keimolanmäki and Kivistö. In addition, the council decided to suspend deputy councilor Milad Dehghan from all positions of trust.
The goal of the Positive Neighborhood Development program is to prevent regional segregation and strengthen the vitality, well-being, and attractiveness of the various city districts. The program focuses particularly on Hakunila, Havukoski, and Myyrmäki, while also improving the citywide knowledge base to enable early intervention in negative development trends.
The Safety program aims to reduce both actual safety incidents and residents’ feelings of insecurity. It shifts the focus from fragmented responses to proactive, knowledge-based, and cross-sector safety work carried out in cooperation with the police, the wellbeing services county, and other partners.
Keimola and Kivistö to gain new daycare centers
The city council approved the alteration to the local detailed plan for Ruutulippu in Keimola, enabling the construction of a 10-group daycare center in the Ajolenkki area of Keimolanmäki.
The local detailed plan for Kivenkolo in Kivistö enables the construction of an eight-group daycare center with 168 childcare places at the intersection of the extension of Kivistön Puistokatu and Korukivenkatu.
The council meeting is still continuing. The agenda includes responses to council initiatives submitted by city councilors.
