The City Council approved the zoning plans for the daycare centre on Satulakuja in Hakunila and on Palotie in Kaivoksela
The Vantaa City Council convened on Monday, 24 March, to consider initiatives submitted by councillors and residents, and approved the zoning plans for the daycare centre on Satulakuja in Hakunila and on Palotie in Kaivoksela.
In 2024, members of the Vantaa City Council submitted a total of 90 council initiatives. The number increased significantly compared to 2023, when 51 initiatives were submitted. Most initiatives concerned the urban environment sector (29) and the urban culture and wellbeing sector (26).
In 2024, the city processed a total of 19 resident initiatives. The number has decreased from previous years (2023: 44, 2022: 42, 2021: 48, 2020: 51). The topics focused mainly on the urban environment sector, which received 12 resident initiatives. Initiatives and their responses can be viewed at www.kuntalaisaloite.fi if the initiative was submitted through the service.
The zoning amendment for the planned daycare centre on Satulakuja in Hakunila enables the construction of a new daycare centre. Special attention is paid in the planning process to the comfort and quality of the surrounding environment. If implemented, the daycare centre will respond to the growth in the number of children of early childhood education age in the Hakunila area. In connection with the zoning amendment, an underground zoning plan will also be prepared for the existing railway tunnel of the Vuosaari harbour rail line.
The zoning plan for Palotie in Kaivoksela includes a small-house area to be supplemented and plots for businesses. The plan designates areas for residential buildings, detached houses, terraced houses, as well as industrial and warehouse buildings, along with a protective green area and related streets.
Additionally, the meeting included discussion of initiatives submitted by councillors concerning the City of Vantaa’s visual identity, anti-drug work, and the city’s security situation.
