The City Council ratified the Economic Program and Vitality and Employment Program
In its meeting on August 24, following a vote, the Vantaa City Council ratified two strategic programs for the strategy period 2026–2029: the Economic Program and the Vitality and Employment Program. In addition, the Council ratified Vantaa's new voting districts as of January 1, 2027. The number of voting districts will be reduced from 68 to 53 by combining districts that use the same polling places.
Two new strategic programs
Vantaa is implementing its city strategy through six change programs. The strategic programs are city-level and are managed across departments. The strategic programs are the Vitality and Employment Program, Integration Program, Positive Regional Development Program, Security Program, Economic Program and Environmental Program. The change programs cover the strategy period.
The Economic Program aims to renew the city’s services, balance the economy and invest in the future. With the Economic Program, the city aims to both curb the expenses of the operational economy and increase revenue. At the same time, the investments required for growth are effectively implemented with the help of different models and cooperation.
The Vitality and Employment Program focuses on strengthening employment, promoting investments and the development of Vantaa's attractiveness. The program aims to change the entire City of Vantaa Group into an active builder of vitality and employment. The change guides decision-making and corporate governance, investments and the process of attracting them, and the development of services and the operating culture of our organization.
Small residential houses in Rekola
In addition, the meeting approved the alteration to the local detailed plan of Joukontie in Rekola. The plan alteration allows the area to be changed into an area for small residential houses and protects the Pihkala house, which was built in the 1920s.
The Council meeting will continue. The agenda includes responses to council initiatives submitted by city councilors.
