City Executive Board handles alterations to the local detailed plans of Vehkala, Rekola and Varisto
In its meeting on June 22, the Vantaa City Executive Board decided to make the alterations to the local detailed plans of Vehkala and Varisto available for public inspection and ratified the alteration to the local detailed plan of Rekola. The City Executive Board also decided to submit two new city-level strategic programs to the City Council for approval: the Economic Program and the Vitality and Employment Program.
The strategic programs are city-level and are managed across departments. The strategic programs are the Vitality and Employment Program, Integration Program, Positive Regional Development Program, Security Program, Economic Program and Environmental Program. The change programs cover the strategy period.
The Economic Program aims to renew the city’s services, balance the economy and invest in the future. With the Economic Program, the city aims to both curb the expenses of the operational economy and increase revenue. At the same time, the investments required for growth are effectively implemented with the help of different models and cooperation.
The Vitality and Employment Program aims to change the entire City of Vantaa Group into an active builder of vitality and employment. The change guides decision-making and corporate governance, investments and the process of attracting them, and the development of services, the organization and operating culture.
The other strategic programs will be handled by the City Executive Board and City Council in fall 2026.
In addition, the City Executive Board handled the alterations to the local detailed plans of Härkälenkki in Vehkala, Joukontie in Rekola, and Varisto and Martinlaakso:
The alteration to the local detailed plan for Härkälenkki in Vehkala makes it possible to expand the efficient, versatile, and public-transport-oriented workplace area of Vehkala to the south in accordance with the current local master plan. An area for local outdoor recreation will be designated in the eastern part of the area.
The alteration to the local detailed plan of Joukontie in Rekola enables the change of the area of industrial facilities that do not disturb the environment into a block for small residential houses and a block for detached small houses. At the same time, the alteration to the local detailed plan protects the Pihkala house, which was built in the 1920s.
The alteration to the local detailed plan of Varisto and Martinlaakso’s Raappavuorentie enables the equipment and machinery related to the production and securing of district heating, as well as the storage area related to their use.
