New housing units, small houses, and vitality by alterations to local detailed plans

The city executive board submitted new local detailed plans and alterations to local detailed plans for the city council's approval concerning Hiekkaharju, Jokiniemi, Kivistö, Korso, Vaarala, and Veromies.

Suopursuntie alteration to local detailed plan, in Hiekkaharju, enables building of a new high rise and a small house or small apartment building. The new residential buildings will generate altogether around 55 new housing units, as well as more business space.

Jokiniemi alteration to local detailed plan makes it possible to supplement Haxas building’s historically  and culturally valuable yard with wood-structured small houses. Protection of the main building and warehouse will be continued, and the root cellar will be protected. The old cowshed / horse stable will be demolished to make room for new building. The alteration makes it possible to build 12 new housing units in the area.

Kivistö’s Kvartsikulma local detailed plan and the amendment to it will expand downtown Kivistö and make it possible to build homes for around 1,000 residents. The plan promotes the realization of pedestrian-friendly, living, urbane, and high-quality downtown. The key factors of the solutions chosen for the area are greenness, ecology, and resource smartness.

Korso's alteration to the local detailed plan allows housing units and brick-and-mortar business premises to be built to replace the mall, which will be demolished. The project will reform and enliven the center of Korso. The alteration to the local detailed plan changes the current business and office block into a block of apartments, and approximately 150 new housing units will be built in the area.

In Vaarala’s Rajatie, the purposes of real properties will be changed from a business and office block into a block of detached houses.

Veromies alteration to local detailed plan makes it possible to build a block of office buildings, a  new hotel, and street-level business premises, as well as a parking garage serving the block, along Tietotie. The block is situated in the immediate vicinity of the airport and within walking distance to both Aviapolis and Lentoasema railway stations. The urban block structure is combined from the airport to the walkway leading to Aviapolis railway station.
