City of Vantaa and Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County reach agreement on continuation of lease arrangements
At its meeting on 11 May, the City of Vantaa Executive Board decided on leasing city premises to the Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County. Negotiations on lease agreements for all sites and premises have been conducted jointly, and a comprehensive solution has been reached for all sites and premises.
According to the legislation on wellbeing services counties, the option periods for premises leased by the Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County (VAKE) will expire at the end of 2026. In addition, the long-term lease agreements of VAV Care Housing were terminated to end at the close of 2026 (excluding Koisoranta Service Centre). Negotiations on the continuation of leasing the premises were conducted during autumn 2025 and spring 2026.
Due to the expiry of lease agreements, negotiations have been held with the wellbeing services county on continuing the leasing of both city-owned sites and those owned by VAV Care Housing. The negotiations covered 17 city-owned sites, 3 sites owned by VAV Care Housing, and approximately 70 premises used by the wellbeing services county that are located in connection with city facilities such as schools and daycare centres. The premises in Peijas Hospital owned by the city and leased to the wellbeing services county were excluded from the negotiations, as negotiations are ongoing regarding the sale of these premises to the HUS Group.
Negotiations on lease agreements for all sites and premises have been conducted jointly, and a comprehensive solution has been achieved for all sites and premises.
Final implementation decisions related to the lease agreements, shareholder decisions of VAV Care Housing, and incorporation matters will still be approved by the City Executive Board, the Group Division, and the Urban Environment Committee.
The wellbeing services county will make its own decisions on the overall matter during May.
