A new youth activity centre in Havukoski – City Board approves needs assessment
At its first meeting of the autumn season on 11 August, the City Board of Vantaa approved the needs assessment for a youth activity centre in Havukoski. During the meeting, members were also appointed, among others, to the Disability Council, the Elderly Council, the Advisory Board for Multicultural Affairs, and the Swedish Committee for the next term.
The Havukoski youth activity centre will be planned and implemented in cooperation with the Me Foundation. The centre will offer young people low-threshold activities without time limits or long-term commitments.
The aim is to strengthen young people’s wellbeing, prevent social exclusion, and create new opportunities for hobbies and employment. Construction of the centre is scheduled to begin in early 2026, and operations will start in autumn 2026. The estimated cost of the alterations to the leased premises is €1.93 million.
At the meeting, members were also appointed to the Disability Council, the Elderly Council, the Advisory Board for Multicultural Affairs, and the Swedish Committee for the term 2025–2027.
