An oasis of calm and concentration and extensive opening hours are hoped for Jumbo library
Point library, situated in Kartanonkoski, will move to Jumbo Shopping Centre and, thus, gain bigger premises. The respondents to the library’s survey hoped for extensive opening hours, as well as quiet and peace, so that they could focus on reading or studying or take a breath in the noisy shopping center environment.

The respondents hoped that the library facilities would be able to accommodate a wide range of activities. We asked what future visitors to Jumbo library would like to do, and the most important issues were:
- Looking for something to read
- Transacting quickly in the library while taking care of other things in the mall.
- Calming down and enjoying the quiet
- Reading and studying
- Hanging out and having a good time
It was considered important to find reading material easily, to have quick transactions, for the library to be child friendly, to have a comfortable environment, and to have a peaceful place to read, study and work. Another wish was that the facilities would be comfortable for children and families with children, so that people of all ages could be motivated to reading and books.
Many people expressed the wish that the library accounted for children both in the children's department, as well as in the library as a whole. The library was hoped to be a safe, accessible and barrier-free place where people of all ages and backgrounds could visit and stay.
In addition, the library was hoped to have extensive opening hours. Weekday evenings and weekends were the most popular times for the respondents to visit the library. It was also important that there would be a lot of books to borrow and in many different languages. In addition to books and magazines, the respondents also wanted to borrow season cards and tickets for sports and cultural events, tools and indicators, and sports equipment, for example. The loan requests also included equipment related to hiking and nature, as well as handicraft and art supplies.
The theme of the interior was “Forest of ideas”
Three options as regards the theme of the interior decoration of the library were included in the survey, of which "Forest of ideas” gained the most votes. The nature theme was deemed to be calming.
I need a quiet place to counterbalance the busy day.
The respondents hoped that natural materials and the atmosphere of the forest bring nature closer, as there is not much nature around the shopping center. The interior was hoped to be warm, soft, and cozy. The forest was also thought to support the world of fairy tales. More playfulness and colorfulness were requested for the children's premises, and calmness for the adults’ premises. Special attention should be paid to library lighting.

What important issues from Point should be taken to Jumbo?
We also asked what familiar things visitors would like to see in the new library. The most important things were interesting and attractive presentation of books, a safe space to be oneself, and an overall atmosphere of a local library. Family-orientation and uncomplicatedness were also things that were hoped to be visible in Jumbo library.
The survey was also of interest to those living outside of Vantaa
