City Government reviewed Vantaa’s new City Strategy 2026–2029 – City Council to decide in January

At its final meeting of the year on 15 December, the Vantaa City Government decided to propose that the City Council approve Vantaa’s City Strategy for 2026–2029. In addition, the City Government unanimously rejected the zoning amendment concerning detached housing plots and a recreational area in Päiväkumpu.

The core of Vantaa’s new City Strategy consists of three key objectives identified through extensive preparation: Vantaa for a Good Life, Attractive Vantaa, and Vantaa of Balanced Growth.

Vantaa City Strategy 2026–2029 – The Future Lives in Vantaa

Successful implementation of the strategy is supported by a stable and sustainable economy, identified success factors, personnel, knowledge-based management, and networks.

The strategy will be implemented through six strategic programmes that support the achievement of the objectives across administrative sectors. The City Council will approve the strategic programmes after the City Strategy has been adopted.

An interim evaluation of the strategy will be carried out during 2027, and a final evaluation in 2029.

Next, the strategy will proceed to the City Council for consideration, and the Council is scheduled to decide on the new City Strategy at its meeting on 26 January 2026.

Zoning amendment in Päiväkumpu rejected

The City Government unanimously rejected the zoning amendment concerning detached housing plots and a recreational area in Päiväkumpu.

At its previous meeting on 1 December 2025, the Chair of the City Government exercised the right to take up a matter from the City Environment Committee’s minutes (item 9: Zoning amendment 002558 and plot division, 75 Päiväkumpu / detached housing plots and recreational area in Päiväkumpu), which brought the zoning amendment under the City Government’s consideration.
