Kuusijärvi’s new smoke sauna stove stones to be replaced after Easter
The stove stones in Kuusijärvi’s new smoke saunas will be replaced for the first time since they were taken into use. The smoke saunas will be closed one at a time during the replacement work.
The smoke saunas at Kuusijärvi produce ample steam when the sauna stones are replaced frequently enough.
All other smoke saunas, electric saunas, and changing facilities will remain open as usual. Likewise, customer service and the café-restaurant will also operate normally.
The smoke sauna Pihka will be out of service during Week 16, Monday to Friday, April 13–17. The accessible smoke sauna Havu will be out of service during Week 17, Monday to Friday, April 20–24.
The stove must be allowed to cool for three days before the stones can be replaced. In the future, the stove stones will be replaced approximately once or twice per year. The stoves are heated every day, which causes the stones to wear down more quickly than in home saunas.
The stoves are heated through a large firebox structure located downstairs. Inside the sauna, the visible portion is the masonry frame of the stove. The height from the firebox up to the sauna is approximately 4.5 meters. Altogether, the stoves contain 2,500 kg of stove stones.
