Colourful footprints remind people of schoolchildren’s routes

News

Schools will start in Vantaa next week. We have painted colourful footprints along schoolchildren’s routes to remind us all that children will soon be back on their way to school. There are also Vantaa light rail worksites near schools, and we want to ensure a safe journey to school for every child.

We have prepared for the start of the school year by painting colourful footprints along schoolchildren’s routes. We are also building the light rail near schools and want to ensure that every child has a safe route to school. The footprints remind both schoolchildren and drivers in the area to be especially attentive around pedestrian crossings.

“These footprints remind us all of the schoolchildren who will be heading back to school starting next week. Vantaa is part of UNICEF’s Child Friendly Municipality model, and we are doing our best to ensure that Vantaa remains a great place for all children and families with children during the construction of the light rail. We wish all children a safe start to the school year and remind all drivers to be especially careful in traffic,” says Pekka Kivelä, Project Manager of the West Alliance at Destia.

We would also like to thank Hot Mix for the high-quality delivery of this special assignment. The footprints were painted using battery-powered paint sprayers and a plywood stencil.
