Introduction

If the distance to a school is over three (3) kilometers in length or if for some reason the way to school is too difficult, exhausting or dangerous for the child, children (during their pre-school education) have the right for a free school transportation or to be given support that is enough to help escorting the child to school.

Allowance for transportation to pre-primary education

Children who attend only pre-primary education (not the day care related to it) are entitled to allowance for transportation to pre-primary education. If the distance to the pre-primary education place indicated by the municipality is over three (3) kilometers, the child is entitled to the allowance. The allowance is only for the transportation between home and pre-primary education place, therefore, the allowance cannot be used for the transportation between home and day care.

Pre-primary Education Travel Allowance

The allowance can be applied from the early childhood education unit that arranges the child's pre-primary education. Generally, the allowance is the amount of public transportation season ticket, and it is paid to the child's guardian. Primarily the guardian escorts the child to preschool.

Taxi transportation for Special Grounds

Sometimes guardians are unable to escort their children to pre-primary education. In that case, the guardians can apply for taxi transportation. Taxi transportation can be applied from the early childhood education unit that arranges the child's pre-primary education. Taxi transportation is arranged based on a statement from a doctor, a psychologist or other expert, and the transportation is valid only when the guardian is factually unable to escort the child to preschool. Valid reasons for not escorting a child to pre-primary education are health issues and exceptional family situations. Reasons regarding work or studying are not valid.
