Young people can engage in many fun activities at youth centres. There are youth workers present at youth centres with whom you can chat with and ask for tips and advice or even help with studying and job-hunting.

The activities are free, voluntary and open to all. Young people are actively involved in the planning of youth centre activities. So, if you have a good idea, share it with a youth worker! You can plan tournaments, theme nights, courses or other fun activities. Vantaa's youth centres
…are safe, non-smoking and intoxicant-free recreational facilities. The centres are mainly intended for young people aged 10-17 and activities are organised in afternoons and evenings and at weekends.

Young people have the right to influence youth centre activities through the youth centre democracy. Youth centres support young people's life management skills and promote their sense of community and social inclusion.

Versatile activities in Vantaa

Vantaa has 14 youth centres where you can spend time and engage in a variety of activities. At a youth centre, you can play games, do crafts, exercise and play sports, cook, participate in hobby groups and workshops, or just hang out. Youth centres also offer cultural activities from music and dance to visual and performing arts. Meet up with your friends and make new ones. In addition, youth centres organise events with the help of young people.

Gaming houses and digital youth work

Vantaa has two gaming houses and several gaming rooms connected to different youth centres. In addition to activities that are open to all, the gaming houses also organise small group activities, theme nights, events and live streaming sessions. All gaming house activities are educational and supervised by a professional youth worker. Official age limit recommendations are always observed. Young people are welcome to discuss games and their content, emotions raised by games, and other experiences related to gaming. The gaming houses are located at the youth centres of Tikkurila and Myyrmäki. Gaming activities are also organised in Länsimäki, Pähkinärinne, Kannisto, Martinlaakso, Havukoski and Korso.

Digital youth work is an important area of youth work. Youth workers reach out to young people and share information about youth services on social media. Youth workers are also active on various digital platforms, such as Habbo and Discord. Youth workers also use national digital services.

Vantaa has an electronic mobile member card system

To participate in youth centre activities, you need a free member card. Your guardian can submit the application for a member card. Once the application is approved, you will receive an SMS message with a link to a QR code. The code serves as your youth centre member card. You can save the code to the home menu of your phone for easy access. To renew the member card, send the application again.
